Big Buddha, Chalong, Phuket
Big Buddha is fast becoming Phukets favourite attraction.
Perched on one of Phukets highest mountains, it offers fantastic panaramic views of the south of Phuket
including Cape Promthep, Karon, Kata, Phuket Town, Cape Panwa, Rawai and Chalong.
You can access the Big Buddha site by either part of an island tour,
or self drive by scooter or rental car.
Our Rental Motorbikes have good power to get up to the panaramic views.
The road up is windy and special care should be taken.
There have been several recent fatalities from vehicle accidents on this road.
Also beware of the many speed bumps or humps if you are on one of our Hire Motorbikes.
They are not very wll marked and may damage the wheels if hit at speed.
The entrance to the this road can be found on Chao Fa West Road, about 2kms north of the Chalong Circle or roundabout.
It is well signposted and if you get lost, any local will be happy to point you in the right direction.
Construction began 2007 and is expected to finish in 2015. Big
Buddha stands 45 meters tall, and can be seen from most of the South Phuket area.
Thanks to my friend, Oz, for this Big Buddha picture.
